My sister and her boyfriend came over for lunch on Sunday. I did mini pumpkins, technically squashes- two orange and two striped green, stuffed with a mince and pepper mix. This was seasoned with anchovies and capers. It only took 40 minutes in a hot over, which was pleased about because my alarm (s) had not gone off and I had less time than originally anticipated. We did have hazelnut hot chocolates as a pudding alternative as I had got a coffee syrup from Lidl to try out. Having bought some culinary delights from the Chinese supermarket the day before, the one of us (my husband having gone out by this point) who could eat wheat could try some chocolate filled ‘Hello Panda’ biscuits. I used to have them when I was little.
It got to the evening and we made the mistake of watching Masterchef- The Professionals. Only a mistake in as much as it truly makes you dissatisfied with whatever you are eating, simply because it’s not a many spiced ras-el-hanout honey-basted rack of lamb or a pea soup with a floating poached egg, or a strawberry jelly with pepper shortbreads. As a consequence, we got out the ‘Little Paris Kitchen’ and made molten chocolate pots.
Here are pictures of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots and of the ox-tail stew leftovers we’d had beforehand, somewhat challenging to capture the hearty meat and veg goodness.
